It's AWESOME! Go see it! THE END.
Ok, if you'd like a serious review then here goes. The story starts off explaining the events of "the blip" from the end of Avengers: Endgame on and how they pertain to Spider-Man's world. A.K.A. High School. The movie is filled with very funny moments, as any self-respectful Spider-Man film should be, but it is also overflowing with just as many heartfelt moments. From the memorial video showing all the heroes lost in the last movie to the gushy love story between MJ and Peter, it's great all the way through.
The special effects are absolutely top-notch, so incredibly well done, and if you know anything about Mysterio you know how essential that was for this movie to function properly.
So the affable Peter Parker receives Tony Stark's glasses which have an extremely high-tech augmented reality system tied to them called EDITH (Even Dead I'm The Hero, kind of a last laugh for Iron Man). This system gives Peter access to all of Tony's technology and weapons, a big deal for a sixteen-year-old. Understandable enough, Peter hands the technology over to Quinton Beck, thinking he was a good man and hoping he could take the reigns, but he was deceived by Quinton. I won't blow the story too much, but our nerdy readers already know Mysterio is a very bad man.
Mysterio uses the weaponry and some very fine-tuned projection technology to trick the world into believing they are being attacked by "elemental monsters", when in reality it was him attacking the cities with drone strikes. Lame right?! Well, his reason is pretty lame too! He wants to be the next Iron Man, he wants to be a superhero.
Once Peter realizes his mistakes we see him face off against Mysterio and his army of drones in one of my favorite cinematic fight scenes of all time. I genuinely believe it was the best scene in the MCU. It was just so much fun getting thrown into Mysterio's mind games and watching Spider-Man fight back.
So, as I said before, I give this movie a very solid 9.5/10. This will, from here on out, be the highest rating that I will ever personally give a Marvel movie. Think of it as a 10/10 for MCU. For, no Marvel movie will ever have another Stan Lee cameo and this was just the first to not feature it. There is just so much missing not getting to see Stan Lee and his beautiful shining face in these movies anymore, it's incredibly heartbreaking. I don't know about you but I always looked forward to those simple cameos.
He created a world where us nerdy kids grew up and learned how to treat people. For, "Great power comes with great responsibility."
